Uniting to Combat Digital Fraud and Threats: Government and Telecom Industry Join Forces
TRAI Secretary V Raghunanda, along with other industry representatives and government officials, moderated discussions at the Truecaller Anti-Fraud Summit in New Delhi and advocated a unified strategy to strengthen India’s digital security measures.
Emphasizing the imperative nature of collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors, Raghunandan emphasized that no single agency alone can address the myriad dimensions of security concerns in the country’s digital ecosystem.
“Just one agency, public or private, cannot handle all dimensions of a country’s security. The approach must be collaborative with strategic public-private partnerships. India is likely to lead such developments, and for this reason we must look at all dimensions of security. Collaboration is the new mantra!” he pointed out.
He highlighted India’s potential to be a pioneer in these developments and stressed the need for a comprehensive approach to address all dimensions of security, placing cooperation at the forefront of this endeavour.
The event convened a coalition of influential stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, technology innovators and decision makers. It served as a hub for thinking about improving the security of digital communications and studied the legal, social and economic implications of fraudulent activity.
Alan Mamedi, CEO and co-founder of Truecaller, echoed Raghunandan’s sentiments and reiterated the company’s commitment to customizing products and features specifically designed to help Indian citizens combat fraud. Mamedi emphasized the importance of proactive innovation and cooperation between stakeholders to reduce risks and guarantee a safe digital experience for everyone.

The summit was also attended by several dignitaries including Sandip Chatterjee, ‘Scientist G’ and Group Coordinator, Cyber Law and Information Management Department, Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), Naveen Jakhar, Deputy Director General of the Ministry. Telecom, Brijlal Singh, Assistant Commissioner, RBI, and Rakesh Maheshwari, Former Senior Director and Group Coordinator, MeitY, who together agreed on the need for concerted action to strengthen India’s digital infrastructure against evolving threats.
